Irina Bryantseva: Fairytale World of Paintings

Irina Bryantseva

Irina Bryantseva

Irina Bryantseva was born and raised in Severodvinsk town in the North of Russia. In 2003 she graduated from school, in 2011 she graduated from Pomorski State University, with major in psychology and pedagogy. At the moment she is working in an orphanage, giving children all the love and care, as well as actively promoting their creativity. She believes, there is always a place for a beauty in the world and there is place for fairy tale and hope in every heart. Therefore, her works are filled with warmth and light.

AP: How would describe your first works. What did they look like?

IB: Even in kindergarten, I took first places almost in every competition and knew all colors and shades better than anyone in my class (laughs)! Being a child, I participated in various children’s shows and exhibitions. Once I even took the second place at a regional exhibition by representing a picture about the war. So the art has kept pace with me for life. My creativity grew up with me! I found inspiration everywhere: in travels religion, nature, prose, poetry, music and movies! Few people know, but l am a winner of poetry competition, and I have a collection of poems. Yes, (smiling) that’s true.

AP: Do you have any formal education in your sphere or were you self-taught?

IB: When I was a child, I attended various art circles, embroidery and macramé. But an invaluable experience for me was my personal experience. All happened when I picked up paint and brushes and forgot everything that happened before this moment. Then I unlocked my own world of creativity.

AP: What genre are your works?Irina Bryantseva Paintings

IB: I have tried my hand at various genres. There are lots of ideas and their manifestations in my mind. Sometimes I think that I won’t be able to realize all my plans within my life! Now, I highlighted some genres and techniques. For example, I like the abstraction and monotype techniques. This technique allows to create amazing pictures! I love fantasy and symbolism. I like to veil details. Sometimes I purposely do not give the names to my works, and ask visitors of exhibitions to come up with names for my paintings. Believe me, the truly interesting names are obtained! People are different and all of them bring their experience and vision of the world.

Also, I like to create three-dimensional pictures. I came up with my own technology, which has no name yet. That is a mixing of three or more techniques that include painting on fabric or batik, applique and embroidery. In my recent works, I went even further. Looking at one of the pictures, I realized that there is not enough … life and movement. Therefore, now it has an additional element – light. Light, weightless elements helped to achieve the sensation of flight. The picture revived and breathed! Now it became very interesting to watch how the picture is changed with the changing of lighting in the room. Works live with me in rhythm!

AP: How would you describe your present works?

IB: My creativity is a part of my soul, my energy, my vision of the world. When I create, I feel the grandeur of the world and it breathes and moves together with me. I realized that I can create beauty, not only with pencils and paints. I paint with flowers, plants, beads, ribbons, feathers, shells, stones, anything that can realize my ideas. I create by listening to a music, so every picture or product has its own mood, its own energy, which cannot be repeated. Therefore we can say that all works are unique.

Irina Bryantseva PaintingsAP: What kind of equipment and techniques do you use to create your art-works?

IB: First of all I need inspiration and idea! And of course I need paint (watercolor, gouache, tempera, acrylic, oil), three-dimensional contours of the fabric, sequins, beads, fancy beads of different colors and shapes. Some products require natural materials, flowers, shells, feathers, stones, toys and even hair and musical instruments! I never know where inspiration will lead me in the next minute. Now I think about the built-in sound and music in the picture!

AP: Would you consider yourself as an expert in this sphere?

IB: Yes, I consider myself a professional in this sphere and I would like to further expand the boundaries of my creativity and to reach a new level.

AP: What is the formula for success in your activity?

IB: My formula for success is sincerity, inner light and belief in a dream. Very important is to belief in yourself and hard work. You have to be passionate your life’s work, you need to breathe with your creativity! You should always find a beauty of the world everywhere. And create it. I wish to share my works and my emotions with people. I wish to see the joy and admiration. I have enough experience in competitions, exhibitions and other events related to my creative work. I have had 5 exhibitions within 2 years, and that is not a limit! The year has not ended yet and there is much time in life!

There are following exhibitions in my thrift-box:

  • 2011 – Exhibition of arts and crafts, Moscow
  • 2011 – “Strange World”, personal exhibition, Severodvinsk
  • 2011 – “Temple of Soul” exhibition, Severodvinsk
  • 2011 – Exhibition of arts and crafts, St. Petersburg
  • 2010 – “Color Dreams”, personal exhibition, Severodvinsk

AP: Is there someone who supports you in your creativity?

IB: I can tell you that what I have achieved in life, I did myself. And my family, friends and colleagues are proud of me.
