AP: Your first works. What did they look like? When did you start sewing?
WX: I started my sewing 10 years ago, and I created my first works in my primary school. Still, I can recall my art teacher who gave us an assignment. From those moments, I am in love with sewing! Initially my mom discouraged me as she thought that sewing is a waste of time. She wanted me to put more efforts in my studies. But it has never reduced my interested and spirits. I improved my sewing skills through self-learning via Internet and reference books from bookstores. Until my college time, there was an opportunity that I set up a booth to sell my art works at a charity. All of my friends like it! And my mom sees my hard works and she has changed her mind for now.
AP: Do you have any formal education in your sphere or were you self-taught?
WX: I’m self-taught. I get the information via Internet and I read various books about sewing techniques and share my opinion with my friends.
AP: What genre are your works?
WX: My art works are more towards life. I like to made my art work into things which close to life such as Fat rabbits (Signature of my art), fruits, cake, sushi…etc… and its can turn into key chain, hair clips, laptop casing. You just name it – and we can make it. We are doing the customization item as well if there is the request. Basically different art works have different difficulties. That is why sometimes I need to do analysis and simulation before I start my work.
AP: How would you describe your works?
WX: Well, I would say that my art-works are unique. All my items are handmade and created by me. And as I said, all items are related to our lives.
AP: What kind of equipment and techniques do you use?
WX: Basically I use non-woven clothes, needles, glues, ribbon, and laces.
AP: Would you consider yourself as an expert in this sphere?
WX: I am very enthusiastic becoming professional. I always improve my sewing skills through internet and forum sharing. I’m not an expert but I’m still learning.
AP: What is your success formula?
WX: My success formula is simple. Success = creativity + hardwork!
AP: Is there someone who helps you in your creativity?
WX: My boyfriend is the best supporter for me. He gives me strong motivation towards my creativity. Besides that, my family and friends also help me a lot in my designing area. And I also want to thank all my customers which purchase my fat rabbit’s handmade craft. In short, everyone who likes sewing is my support! I like sharing my knowledge with all the sew lovers.
